Apps that ask for your Orbio account

Since 1 October a project can let you sign in with Orbio. The app you approve can spend your balance, may post to X as you, and can add a fee of up to 100%. Dossier finds these apps on the sites Orbio agents point to and reads Orbio’s own consent screen for each, every day.

Orbio’s consent screen, simplified, for Trenches/97.
  1. Where it sends you back to. That host is the app. Is it the project’s own site? A name or a logo proves nothing: anyone can register an app under any name.
  2. What it may do. Spending your balance is what these apps are for. Posting to X as you is a bigger ask.
  3. What it adds. The fee comes on top of every request it makes, paid to its developer. At 100% everything costs you double.
